A Poem That Makes "Sense"
by: Ashley

A flood is gray.
It sounds like rushing water.
It tastes like swamp water.
It smells like dead fish.
It looks like a war zone.
It makes you feel like crying.

Home is Where the Flood Lives
by: Chris

This is the flood.
Where water lives.
This is where people stay in shelters.
This is where my house is flooded.
And you can hear moving water.
And you can see wrecked homes.
And you can feel sadness.
And the teacher cares.

Home is Where the Flood Lives
by: Amanda

This is the flood.
Where nobody lives.
This is where the Red River lives.
This is where a fire burned
Down parts of Grand Forks.
And you can hear the rising water.
And you can see the rising water.
And you can feel the rising water.
And everybody cares.

Flood
by: Toby

Flowing
Lost pets
Over dams
Overwhelmed
Disaster

Flood
by: Brittany

Fighting floodwaters
Leaving people homeless
Over dikes, bridges and houses
Oil and water, they just don't mix
Dangerous water

River
by: Rebecca

River
Fast, Muddy
Rushing, Flowing, Falling
Water is flowing with mud
Going, Damning, Drowning
Slow, Dirty
Red River
