Excise Taxpayers Now Have More e-File Options |

Form 720, Quarterly Federal Excise Tax Return, may now be e-filed with the IRS. Form 720 is the second excise form the IRS now accepts electronically, following the release of excise Form 2290, Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax Return in August 2007.
The IRS hopes to convince the more than 100,000 Form 720 taxpayers who filed on paper last year to begin using e-file to help meet their excise tax filing requirement this year.
There are several advantages for excise taxpayers to use electronic filing to file their Forms 720:

The process is totally electronic, as no paper is sent to the IRS.

Filing excise tax returns electronically reduces errors and the cost of tax administration.

E-file offers improved service, speed and reliability for excise taxpayers.
To file Form 720 electronically, taxpayers need to select an approved software provider for Form 720, available from the IRS Web site, IRS.gov.
