Saltonstall-Kennedy Grants Program

The Saltonstall-Kennedy (S-K) Act, as amended (15 U.S.C. 713c-3), provides a fund (known as the S-K fund) that is used to provide grants for research and development projects addressed to any aspect of U.S. commercial and recreational fisheries including, but not limited to, harvesting, processing, marketing, and associated infrastructures.

Grants and cooperative agreements may be awarded annually on a competitive basis. The solicitation for proposals under the S-K Grant Program, including funding priorities, application requirements, and proposal evaluation criteria, is published once each year in the Federal Register if funding is available. For the past three years, available funds have not been sufficient to support a solicitation for proposals. A Fiscal Year 2006 solicitation for proposals is not expected to be announced.
