The American Library at 24 Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi, will be closed from Monday, May 11 through Tuesday, May 26 for renovation. The newly refurbished library will reopen on Wednesday, May 27, 2009.

President Barack Obama has announced his intent to nominate Robert O. Blake as Assistant Secretary of State for South Asian Affairs. Most recently Ambassador Blake served as U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka and to the Republic of Maldives. Before that, he served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Mission in New Delhi, India from 2003 to 2006.
