The mission of the National Energy Education Development Project is to promote an energy conscious and educated society by creating effective networks of students, educators, business, government and community leaders to design and deliver objective, multi-sided energy education programs.

In an effort to provide educators across the country and around the world with NEED materials at the click of a mouse, these guides are available in PDF for download. NEED curriculum guides organized by Grade Level, Subject Matter, and Title are available to make accessing NEED resources even easier.

Career Currents – March 2009
This issue focuses on professionals who work in the nuclear energy industry including career interviews with a former Primary Chemistry Manager, SRO from Limerick Generating Station, a Philip D. Reed Senior Fellow for Science and Technology from the Council on Foreign Relations, a Project Manager in Workforce Planning from Dominion Power, and a Visiting Chemistry Professor at Washington and Lee University.

Energy Exchange - February 2009
The activities in this issue focus on the science of energy. Primary, elementary and intermediate students explore different aspects of energy and motion. Secondary students discover what variables affect chemical energy transforming into electrical energy.

NEED and ConocoPhillips have partnered in 2009 to host 25 workshops in communities across the country. To register for a workshop near you visit the "About the ConocoPhillips Program" section of the NEED website.

NEED is pleased to partner with BP for the BP A+ for Energy Program. The program provides $5,000 and $10,000 grants to teachers in California, Texas, Indiana, Ohio, Alabama, Colorado, New Mexico, and South Carolina. To determine eligibility and to apply, visit BP A+ for Energy.

Kentucky NEED, in partnership with the Kentucky Department for Energy Development and Independence, is facilitating four regional Energy Management Workshops for Schools on February 24, 26, March 5 and 6.  Learn more about the one-day events for teachers and administrators by downloading the conference brochure (pdf).
