Governor invites public to tour Mansion

Salt Lake City, Utah - Governor Jon Huntsman and First Lady Mary Kaye Huntsman invite the public to tour the Governor's Mansion during the summer season.

"It is an honor for our family to live in the people's home of Utah," Governor Huntsman said. "I encourage all Utahns, both young and old, to come learn more about the Mansion's history and discover its beauty."

All public Mansion tours are free to the general public and are held bi-weekly, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. (excluding holidays). Free parking is available east of the Mansion, access from "H" Street, and summer tours will continue through August 2009.

The Historic Governor's Mansion

During an era that combined the grace and dignity of living at the close of the 1800s with the new, highly expressive styles that marked the first decade of the twentieth century, Thomas and Jennie Kearns built a home on the corner of G and Brigham Streets. The story of the Kearns mansion is one steeped in a rich and colorful history.

The Governor's Mansion is open for public tours:

  • Address is: 603 East South Temple, Salt Lake City
  • June, July, August and December (ending day is December 10, 2009)
  • Tuesday and Thursday of the months mentioned above, unless there is a state holiday, then the mansion is closed.
  • From 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Parking is available east of the Governor's Mansion behind the Utah Arts Council building. The lot is accessible from H Street. For more information, call (801) 538-1005.
