Summary
The CSB investigated a fire at the Third Coast Industries motor oil and automotive parts blending and packaging facility in Friendswood, TX. The investigation found that Third Coast did not have systems in place to identify and control fire hazards that could affect the plant, its employees, the surrounding community, or the environment. In addition, investigators found that Brazoria County had no laws or regulations that required Third Coast to comply with fire codes. The CSB issued safety recommendations based on these root and contributing causes.
