Operation FALCON II - Federal And Local Cops Organized
Nationally - was a massive fugitive dragnet that covered the
western half of the country from April 17-23, 2006. As a
lead-in to National Crime Victims' Rights Week, this cooperative
effort took some of the country's most dangerous wanted
criminals off the streets and made America's communities safer.
Deputy U.S. Marshals, teaming up with their state, local and
federal colleagues in the largest fugitive sweep to ever focus on
violent sex offenders, arrested 9,037 fugitives and
cleared 10,419 warrants.
This well-planned and well-executed tactical
operation conducted by a dynamic “force multiplier” joint-agency
law enforcement team was responsible for:
- 462 violent sex crime
arrests
- 311 other sex crime
arrests
- 783 unregistered sex
offenders arrested
- 111 guns seized
- 139 drug seizures, in
which 91 kilograms of narcotics were confiscated
- $120,265.00 in cash
was seized
- 14 vehicles were
seized
- 163 documented gang
members were arrested
- 87 homicide warrants
were cleared
- 2,941
narcotics Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) cases were cleared
The citizens of the United States
are always best served when law enforcement agencies work
together for the common good. Teamwork was the key during this
seven-day initiative.
- 793 different
agencies participated
- 25 federal agencies
- 120 state agencies
- 330 county sheriff's
offices/departments
- 312 police departments, and
- 6 foreign agencies.
- Within the Marshals Service,
46 districts were involved
in this operation - including the Northern Mariana Islands and
Guam.
- All told, more than 2,100 law enforcement
officers worked arm in arm in this very special show of force.
