Tax Credits (English :60)

MUSIC UP AND UNDER THROUGHOUT

IRIS:

Iris here, your IRS helper, with a question. Did you know that if you qualify for a credit on your federal income taxes it will reduce your tax bill? Some people actually get money back. And even if you didn’t qualify for a credit last year, things change. So maybe this year, you do.

For instance, if you weren’t eligible for the 2008 Stimulus Payment, but certain circumstances have changed for you now, you could get a second chance with the Recovery Rebate Credit. There’s also the Earned Income Tax Credit for people who work but don’t earn a lot. And if you are a first time homebuyer, a college student, had a newborn or adopted a child in 2008, if you have mortgage debt, or purchased a hybrid vehicle, there are tax credits for all of those situations, too.

Make sure you get all the credit you deserve. Visit irs.gov for the complete list of tax credits and details. irs.gov. See how it can help you.
