About the Collection

The ASMD Library collection focuses on air pollution meteorology, chemistry, numerical and physical model development and application, climate change analysis, and geophysics.  The library houses a core air pollution reference collection, handbooks, scientific and unabridged dictionaries, major air pollution studies, atlases, almanacs, CD-ROMs, and topographic maps.

History of the Library

Formerly known as the Meteorology Library, the ASMD Library originated in 1958 at the Robert S. Taft Sanitary Engineering Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.  In 1971, the library became part of EPA in Research Triangle Park (RTP), North Carolina, and NOAA in Silver Spring, Maryland, when EPA and NOAA were established in the Executive Branch by Reorganization Plans Nos. 3 and 4 of 1970.
