Dedication to the Environment

Landscape picture NSA is committed to protecting and preserving the precious natural resources we share with our state, region, nation, and world.

NSA works hard to be a good steward of the environment. Through a comprehensive Environmental Management System, this Agency has developed robust pollution prevention, green procurement, and recycling programs. In 2007 alone, NSA recycled, refurbished, or reused over 13 million pounds of recyclable materials at our Fort Meade campus - and this is just one aspect of our commitment to a clean, safe, and "greener" environment.

NSA is also moving towards environmentally sustainable building design and construction, and we are introducing a "green fleet" of innovative vehicles, from Segways to an all-electric battery run car that is capable of being recharged using regular 110 volt power. We have implemented many different energy conservation measures, and our storm water management plan is a vital part of our commitment to helping save one of our most important local treasures, the Chesapeake Bay.

Visit the NSA Goes Green page to learn more about this Agency's commitment to protecting the environment and husbanding our Nation's natural resources.
