Suspect in Violent Armed Robberies Arrested in Baton Rouge |
Baton Rouge – Investigators from the Middle
Louisiana Fugitive Task Force arrested Christopher Rogers, 19, at an
apartment complex in Baton Rouge this morning. Rogers was wanted by the
Baton Rouge Police Department and the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office for
his role in several violent robberies. Rogers was wanted in Ascension Parish
for five counts of attempted First Degree Murder, six counts of Armed
Robbery, six counts of Armed Robbery with a Firearm, and Aggravated Criminal
Damage to Property stemming from multiple incidents that took place in
March. Additionally, Rogers is alleged to have committed attempted Second
Degree Murder on February 2, 2009 when he shot at a victim several times in
Baton Rouge. MLFTF Investigators conducted an extensive investigation to locate Rogers all over Ascension and East Baton Rouge Parishes over the past few weeks. Investigators were following up on a lead that Rogers was hiding out at the apartment complex this morning when Rogers was located and arrested without incident. A firearm was located at the apartment and was turned over to detectives for evidence. “The Task Force is very pleased with the
peaceful arrest of this violent fugitive. The crimes that Rogers is alleged
to have committed are severe and our investigators had information the he
was always armed and had the potential to take drastic measures if
confronted.” said Chief Deputy US Marshal Wayne Plylar. Participating agencies are the Ascension Sheriff’s Office, the Baton Rouge Police Department, East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, the Louisiana State Police, the Louisiana State Probation and Parole, and the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office.
