Overview

The seal of the FBI Training DivisionThe FBI Academy is dedicated to being the premier law enforcement learning and research center and an advocate for law enforcement’s best practices worldwide.

Situated on 385 acres of the immense Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Virginia, the Academy is run by our Training Division, whose work reaches far beyond the confines of the campus grounds. Led by Assistant Director Brian Lamkin, the Training Division includes approximately 400 special agents, professional staff, and contractors and a total of five sections and 24 units.

The FBI Academy has five marquis programs:
The Academy also includes:
  • Photo of agents training at hogan's alley.A Library that maintains complete and up-to-date law enforcement information in the world and offers a variety of audiovisual materials, legal publications, government documents, periodicals, and online resources;
  • The Counterterrorism and Forensic Research and Training Center, part of the FBI Laboratory, which supports the Training Division by providing forensic training to FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) new agents; National Academy students; FBI in-service students; and federal, state, and local law enforcement agency personnel;
  • Hogan’s Alley, a training complex simulating a small town where FBI and DEA new agent trainees learn investigative techniques, firearms skills, and defensive tactics and also houses functioning classrooms, administrative and maintenance areas, and audiovisual facilities; and
  • The Tactical and Emergency Vehicle Operations Center (TEVOC), which teaches safe, efficient driving techniques to FBI and DEA personnel and other government and military personnel.
