Enterprise Architecture Office Mission

The Enterprise Architecture Office is responsible for the development, maintenance and use of the NOAA Enterprise Architecture (EA), and its integration with institutional corporate processes such as PPBES, IT Capital Planning and program management. This includes maintaining the "as-is" view of the NOAA enterprise, leading the development of a future "target" architecture for NOAA, and drafting strategies, transition plans and IT policies to implement the target architecture. The office coordinates EA activities closely with the IT Security Office to ensure security requirements are integrated into the EA at all levels. The office also provides architectural guidance to IT investment owners for the development of IT Capital Plans, and outreach to assist IT program managers in interpreting and complying with the requirements of the target EA. The office partners with NOAA's Program Planning and Integration (PPI) office to provide relevant architectural analyses and recommendations. The office also represents and advocates NOAA's functional and technical requirements at DoC to ensure these requirements are reflected in the department's EA. Finally, the office ensures compliance with OMB's Federal Enterprise Architecture and eGov policy requirements, and supports external (OMB and GAO) audits of DoC's EA program.
