Elyria Shooter Chased Down By Task Force

Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task ForceElyria, Ohio –  The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force apprehended fugitive Marvell Jones (age 20) this morning at approximately 7:30 a.m. in Elyria, Ohio, after a short foot pursuit.  An alert Task Force Officer observed Jones walking toward South Park Apartments on Middle Avenue in Elyria.  When approached by the Task Force, Jones attempted to flee on foot and threw a loaded firearm to the ground.  Task Force Officers swiftly overwhelmed Jones and he was apprehended without further incident behind a residence near Maple Street and Middle Avenue in Elyria. 

On March 31, 2009, a gun fight occurred in front of a house on Middle Avenue in Elyria where two groups of young men and woman became involved in a verbal altercation which escalated.  The investigation of the shooting led to an arrest warrant for Marvell Jones for Felonious Assault.  This incident received a large amount of media attention within Lorain County. 

 “Our Task Force Officers and Deputy Marshals will continue to work day and night to hunt down these violent fugitives  to make Lorain County a safer place to live.” said U.S. Marshal Peter Elliott.   “This is a great example of how well our partnership works in Lorain County!”
