Cold Case Murder Suspect Arrested in Cincinnati, Ohio
Norman Dean is wanted for the murder of a Lavon Gaines
Cincinnati, OH - On 02/19/09 at approximately 7:40 am, the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) arrested Norman Dean (DOB 12/06/76) on West McMicken Avenue in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dean is accused of murdering Lavon Gaines on Hutchins Lane on May 11, 2007. Dean has a lengthy criminal record that includes felony assaults and drug possession. U.S. Marshal James Wahlrab stated, “With this arrest the community is much safer.”

After following numerous leads, SOFAST developed information that Dean was living with his sister, Claudine Dean, on West McMicken. Deputies found Dean lying on the floor of his sister’s house. Dean was arrested by deputies without incident. Dean was booked into the Hamilton County Detention Center.

SOFAST is a multi-jurisdictional task force comprised of the U.S. Marshals, Cincinnati Police Department, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Lockland Police Department, Drug Enforcement Administration, Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, Warren Co. Prosecutors Office, U.S. Department of Agriculture OIG, U.S. Attorney’s Office, Butler County Sheriff’s Office and Ohio Adult Parole Authority.
