Escapee Captured by U.S. Marshals |
|
Eric Jackson was arrested on May 29th, 2008 by
the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (GLRFTF) in
Hillside, Illinois. This arrest was the direct result of a cooperative
fugitive investigation between the GLRFTF, U.S. Marshals District of
Minnesota, and the U.S. Marshals Eastern District of Wisconsin.
Jackson arrived at the Federal Prison Camp in Duluth on October 2nd, 2007.
Jackson was serving a sentence for Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to
Distribute Cocaine and a Probation Violation. On November 7th, 2007, Jackson
escaped from the camp and has been on the run since.
Deputies in Minnesota responded to the Camp and started the investigation.
Based off the information and evidence recovered at the camp, deputies
obtained a warrant for Jackson’s arrest. Deputies in Minnesota developed
leads that Jackson had fled to Illinois. Based on this information, deputies
contacted the GLRFTF.
GLRFTF deputies developed leads that Jackson was living in an apartment
building under a new name. Deputies conducted surveillance at the location
while other task force members responded to the scene. GLFTF members covered
all escape routes from the building and entered looking for Jackson. Jackson
was located inside an apartment and taken into custody. Deputies also
recovered identity theft documents and a stolen assault rifle.
The EMFTF is sponsored by the U.S. Marshals in the District of Minnesota.
EMFTF includes officers from the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota
Department of Corrections, Housing and Urban Development Office of the
Inspector General, Minneapolis Police Department, Hennepin County Parole and
Probation and the Social Security Office of the Inspector General.
