Census Recall: Deadline Extended PDF Print E-mail
Written on Friday, 06 February 2009

In January 2009, GPO was advised by the U.S. Census Bureau that some Census Bureau publications sent to depository libraries from 1992 to 1998 should not have been distributed. These materials were intended for internal use only, for field agent testing. Public access to these documents could compromise the integrity of the Census' program for field agent testing. For that reason the publications are considered to be sensitive. Therefore the Superintendent of Documents requested that depository libraries withdraw these publications from library collections. Notifications were disseminated via the FDLP Desktop, FDLP-L, and through an announcement placed in each library's depository shipping box.

To allow librarians more time to research their collection holdings, the deadline for the date of the recall for Census publications will be extended to February 23, 2009.

Descriptive information on the recalled titles are available on the Desktop Census Document Recall page.
