Release of Guidelines Document: Connecting SET wetland
bench marks to the NSRS

NGS has released for public comment a draft guidelines document detailing procedures for making precise and accurate connections between Surface Elevation Table (SET) wetland bench marks and the National Spatial Reference System (NSRS) using survey-grade Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology.  The guidelines present useful information on conducting a GNSS campaign to connect remote SET wetland bench marks, and describes newly developed
methodology and instrumentation to calculate vertical offsets between the SET bench mark, the GNSS antenna, and the reference plane(s) established by a SET instrument deployed in the field.  These guidelines provide a consistent method for establishing vertical control in remote wetland sites, and for monitoring SET bench mark stability over time.
