Help Business Communities Recover from Disasters FEMA’s Office of External Affairs is hiring private sector reservists to assist during major hurricanes, floods, and other declared disasters. As a member of FEMA’s Disaster Assistance Employees (DAEs) workforce, you will work with businesses, associations, industry groups, colleges, private sector organizations, and other entities during declared disasters to assist federal response and recovery efforts. Duties include: • Foster a close working relationship and communication between the federal response and private sector organizations • Plan and produce business recovery workshops, publications and events to distribute information on resources that can help private sector organizations return to business • Develop and document short and long-range plans, initiatives, and outreach strategies for collaborating with the private sector We need professionals with experience in one or more of the following: • Economic analysis/business analysis – Experience identifying region-wide economic impact issues • Communications – Experience communicating with the private sector and facilitating meetings, often at a senior level with limited time • Information management – Knowledge of managing large contact lists and other databases • Emergency management – Knowledge of business continuity planning and crisis management If you are: • Energetic and/or creative • Able to be deployed to at least two disasters a year • Able to travel on short notice anywhere in the US, and • Available to work on an intermittent basis Email your cover letter and resume to the FEMA Private Sector Division at: FEMA-Private-Sector@dhs.gov.
