How do I place an order for a telephone or other telecom services?



Many telephone services can be obtained by using the Telephone Service Request Form. Complete the TSR on-line and follow the easy instructions for submitting the form. Please contact the Help Desk if you need assistance completing the form.

For other requests, such as purchases of equipment and new installations, your Administrative Officer (AO) can assist you by submitting a DelPro.

How do I check the status of my Telephone Service Requests (TSR or Telecom DelPro?)


Each order is assigned a Remedy ticket number. To check the status of your TSR or Delpro:

1. Visit the NIH Help-Desk on-line: http://ithelpdesk.nih.gov/support/

2. Contact the NIH Help Desk by phone: 301-496-HELP (496-4357)

Please be prepared to provide the the Remedy ticket number or DelPro number with your inquiry.

 How long does it take to get a phone installed?


The time interval for a new installation or to move existing service may vary depending upon the specific requirements for job. For a standard set of intervals and fees please see theTelecom Fees and Delivery Intervals; (Adobe 34kb)

 What's the difference between the TSR and DelPro?


The (TSR Form) Telephone Service Request is a form used to request telephone services when no purchase  or fee is involved.

Delegated Procurement (DelPro) is the mechanism that NIH Administrative Officers utilize to request telephone services and products when a cost or fee is applicable.  Contact your AO to purchase telephone equipment.

Note: There is no fee to submit a TSR form.

The most commonly used desk/wall phones at the NIH are:

                          ISDN Tone Commander

                          ISDN AT&T

                          Merlin

                          Analog

 How do I use the features on my phone?


If you have buttons on your phone that are labeled with information other than a phone number, then you probably have additional features programmed or programmable on your phone. These features are designed to enhance your specific needs as well as saving time and effort in your daily tasks.

Voice Mail Features

I forgot my Voice Mail password how can I get a new one?


To get your Voice Mail password re-set you must submit a Voice Mail Quick Change Form to Telecommunications. The  Voice Mail Quick Change Form will allow you to to request the following changes to your personal Voice Mail box:

- Reset a password - issue new password
 - Add a voicemail box to a line
- Delete a voicemail box
- Change the number of rings before a call goes to the voicemail system
- Move a mailbox

My Message Light is not working working properly, what can I do?


Please call the Voice Mail Help Line at 301-594-9422 to have your light reset.
If the problem persists, it’s probably a problem with the phone itself.
Please call NIH Telecommunications Repair at 301-402-9935.

How can I get a link fixed; (a broken link or non-working link) or request a correction?


Every page in the on-line directory has a Quick Links Menu. To "Report a Broken Link" or any problem you may be experiencing, including asking for information to be corrected,  just click the link and send a detailed message or you may send e-mail directly to NIH Telephone Directory Services at telephonedirserv@mail.nih.gov

How can I get a printed (hard) copy NIH Directory delivered to my office?


Send e-mail request to NIH Telephone Directory Services and include the following information:

*                       -  Name of Contact

*                       -  Phone Number

*                       -   IC Name

*                       -   Building Name

*                       -  Mail Stop Code

*                       -   Quantity of Directories Needed

How can I get a Public (Yellow Pages  or White Pages) Directory delivered to my office?


Submit a TSR (Telephone Service Request) form and include the following information:

*                          -  Name of Contact

*                          -  Phone Number

*                          -  IC Name

*                          -  Complete US Postal Mailing Address (with Zip Code)

*                          -  Quantity and Type(s)* of each Directory needed
