Oklahoma City, OK -- Individuals and business owners affected by the Jan. 30 ice storm have 10 days to visit one of the joint Disaster Recovery Centers. Officials of the Oklahoma Department of Civil Emergency Management (ODCEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today the centers will close at the end of the day on Saturday, March 16.

Those affected by the ice storm are reminded that the way to apply for assistance is by calling FEMA's toll-free application number, 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). There is also a special toll-free number for the speech or hearing impaired, (TTY) 1-800-462-7585. Both numbers will be closed on Sundays, but still available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday until April 8. These numbers may also be used for applicants to check on the status of their application or to update claim information, without going to one of the centers.

This weekend, the centers will operate normally on Saturday, but will be closed on Sunday. These changes are the result of reduced activity at the centers.

The Disaster Recovery Centers are scheduled to be in operation again on Monday morning (March 11) at 9 o'clock. They will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., through Saturday, March 16.

The Disaster Recovery Centers are located at: El Reno National Guard Armory, 2600 Melone Drive Enid National Guard Armory, 600 East Elm Ponca City Hutchins Memorial Auditorium, 5th and Overbrook Weatherford National Guard Armory, 223 West Rainey Avenue

More than 5,000 ice storm victims have already visited one of the centers to meet face-to-face with recovery specialists.

The centers were established to provide detailed program information to those who have already applied for assistance. Representatives of state, federal and voluntary agencies staff the centers to answer questions and provide information on recovery, restoration and rebuilding. Loan officers from the U.S. Small Business Administration will be present to answer questions and help applicants complete their loan package.
