ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has expanded the number of locations where flood victims can get information on low-cost, user-friendly methods to protect homes and businesses from future flooding.

FEMA mitigation experts will be at home improvement centers and building supply stores to talk to flood victims about how to build and retrofit homes and businesses to reduce property damage from floods. Experts will also distribute written materials about "flood-defensive" repair solutions.

There will also be two more self-service information centers where people can pick-up a variety of publications about simple, low-cost repair and retrofitting solutions that may reduce damage and loss should another flood occur. There is also information about the National Flood Insurance Program.

To date, FEMA mitigation staff has contacted more than 6200 individuals and offered disaster recovery information to 1637 people.

FEMA's mitigation experts will be available at Home Depot, Lowes and building supply stores from 9 a.m. to 7: 30 p.m. Wednesdays through Mondays.
