PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at the Milltown Borough Park, 71 Violet Terrace in Milltown, is closing Thursday, May 24, federal and state disaster officials announced today. The DRC will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday for its final day of operation.

The New Jersey Office of Emergency Management, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Small Business Administration opened the DRC to provide face-to-face assistance and disaster information to individuals and business owners who suffered damage from the April nor'easter storm.

The Milltown DRC has assisted more than 121 Middlesex County residents since opening May 6. Residents of the area who subsequently need assistance can reach recovery experts by calling the FEMA helpline at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech and hearing impaired. Both lines are operational from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, until further notice.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
