Federal/State Disaster Recovery Centers Closing Next Week

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. - The Disaster Recovery Centers operated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the N.H. Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) in Allenstown, Raymond and Rochester will close Wed., May 23 at 6 p.m. So far, nearly 600 people have visited the Disaster Recovery Centers to talk with recovery officials and get help completing U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) low-interest disaster loan applications.

Disaster Recovery Centers operate 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Mon.-Fri.; 8 a.m.-12 p.m., Sat. as noted:

The Community Action Programs (CAP) in the disaster-affected areas will continue to help flood victims. In addition to having representatives at the DRCs, SBA currently has two locations where individuals can receive assistance in filling out their loan applications: Concord (2 Industrial Park) and Manchester (160 Silver Street). The SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Centers are open Mon. – Fri., 8 a.m. – 5 p.m; the centers will close Thurs., May 24, at 5 p.m.

Anyone who has suffered losses or damages as a result of the storms may go to a Disaster Recovery Center to follow up on their registration. Those affected by the disaster are urged to register for assistance first by calling toll-free 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired. Registration can also be done online at www.fema.gov/assistance.

Those who have disaster-related questions may visit the centers to meet with recovery specialists in person. Representatives of FEMA, HSEM and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will be on hand to answer questions and provide recovery information. Written materials about various assistance programs and ways to reduce damages from future storms are also available to individuals and business owners.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.

N.H. Homeland Security and Emergency Management is responsible for coordinating the state's emergency response to major natural and manmade disasters.
