FEMA Outreach Teams Expand To Five Locations in New York

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The State Emergency Management Office (SEMO) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in partnership with local home supply stores, offer outreach teams to assist people with mitigation and disaster assistance information.

Teams will be at the following locations from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Monday, May 21:

A team will be available beginning today from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except Tuesday at the following location:

An outreach team remains available from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except Tuesday at the following location:

Specialists from FEMA will explain techniques that can help to lessen damage to homes, businesses and property from future flooding and provide information on retrofitting buildings and elevating utilities. The specialists also can provide help with other disaster-related questions.

Also available are flood safety clean-up tips to help prevent health problems that can be caused by mold and mildew. In addition to causing structural damage, mold spores can grow in a short period of time, aggravating asthma or respiratory problems in adults and children.
Other retrofitting residents can do, and get information about, to lessen flood damage in the future includes:
