EAGLE PASS, Texas -- The Governor's Division of Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) want to help those who were affected by the severe storms, tornadoes and flooding of April 21-24.

The Individuals and Households Program (IHP) can provide temporary help with alternative housing and/or financial assistance with other needs.

Housing Assistance can provide funding for:

In addition, FEMA may provide temporary use of a mobile home or travel trailer where rental resources do not exist.

Other Needs Assistance may include funding for:

"We realize the suffering of those who have been displaced from their homes or lost personal property," said State Coordinating Officer Joan Haun. "If you haven't called to register, call now; help is only a phone call away."

You can register for disaster assistance by calling the FEMA registration line 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1- 800-462-7585 for the speech or hearing impaired. You may call from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week until further notice. Each situation is unique, and every application is handled on a case-by-case basis.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
