LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- It is important to know that if you suffered damages and losses from the May 2 severe storms, flooding and tornadoes, and registered with any voluntary agency for assistance it does not register you with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

You must contact FEMA to register for state and federal assistance. There are two easy ways to begin the FEMA application process. You may call to FEMA's toll-free number, 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585. Lines are open daily, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and multilingual operators are also available to answer your call. Residents with Internet access can also register online at www.fema.gov.

The Arkansas Department of Emergency Management (ADEM) is the state's homeland security and emergency management agency. The agency works to identify and lessen the effects of emergencies, disasters and threats to Arkansas by developing effective prevention, preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery actions for all disasters and emergencies.
