Less Than One Week Left To Register For Summer Flood Aid In Missouri

JEFFERSON CITY , Mo. -- Families, individuals and businesses in 27 Missouri counties that suffered flood and storm damage from June 1-August 13 have less than one week to register for help from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

Tuesday, October 14 is the deadline to register for FEMA assistance in the counties eligible for Individual Assistance. These designated counties include Adair, Andrew, Callaway, Cass, Chariton, Clark, Gentry, Greene, Harrison, Holt, Johnson, Lewis, Lincoln , Linn, Livingston, Macon , Marion , Monroe , Nodaway, Pike, Putnam, Ralls, St. Charles , Stone, Taney, Vernon and Webster.

To register or to check the status of an existing application call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech-and-hearing-impaired or online, go to www.fema.gov .

The deadline to submit loan applications to the SBA is also October 14 . While no one is required to take out an SBA loan, applications are a key part of the FEMA application process. Homeowners and renters who may not qualify for an SBA loan may be eligible for other forms of assistance. Registration for FEMA assistance must be done separately from registering for aid from any other organization. It is important to register with FEMA even if you have insurance.
