Two Disaster Recovery Centers To Wrap Up Operations

Kansas City, MO -- For Missouri residents who wish to have face-to-face meetings with Recovery Specialists, the time for visiting two Disaster Recovery Centers is getting shorter. State and federal officials have announced that Saturday, March 2, will be the last day for two Disaster Recovery Centers. The centers opened February 15 to help individuals and businesses affected by the winter ice storm.

The two Disaster Recovery Centers will continue to offer all services to applicants through 7 p.m. Saturday, March 2. They are:

One metro area Disaster Recovery Center will remain open at Benjamin Plaza Shopping Center, 8938E Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, Mo. 64132. Hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday, until further noticed.

Disaster assistance programs include housing assistance, grants for serious needs and necessary expenses not covered by insurance or other programs, and low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration for ice damaged residential and business property. Disaster unemployment assistance, tax assistance and other special services are also available to eligible persons affected by the disaster.
