Disaster Recovery Centers to Open in Kansas City

Emporia, Kansas -- To further help individuals and business owners affected by the recent severe ice storms, the State of Kansas and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will open two Disaster Recovery Centers in the Kansas City area on Friday, February 15 at:

The temporary Disaster Recovery Centers are designed to provide detailed program information to residents who may have questions about disaster aid. Representatives from temporary housing, disaster unemployment, and mitigation will be present, including loan officers from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The Disaster Recovery Centers will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
"We encourage affected residents to visit the recovery centers, but we need to remind them that the only way to apply for disaster assistance is by calling the FEMA toll-free registration number," said Angee Morgan, Kansas Human Services Officer. "The centers' main function is to give individuals a chance to interact face-to-face with our representatives."
The FEMA registration line is 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) (TTY 1-800-462-7585 for those who are speech- or hearing-impaired). The lines are open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., seven days a week until further notice.
