Emporia, Kansas -- The two Disaster Recovery Centers in Kansas serving applicants impacted by the severe winter ice storms will be open Feb. 18, on Presidents' Day, officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today. The centers, jointly operated by state and federal agencies, are located at:

Visitors to the centers can meet one-on-one with program representatives who will evaluate their individual needs, check on the status of their application or update their registration information. Both centers are open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
FEMA's toll-free disaster registration also will remain open on Presidents' Day. People affected by the ice storms do not need to visit the centers in order to register for assistance with FEMA; the only way to register is to call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) (TTY: 1-800-462-7585). Hours of operation are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week. The tele-registration process is the starting point for a wide range of federal, state and voluntary disaster assistance programs and services, including temporary housing; grants for serious disaster related needs; disaster unemployment; low-interest loans for businesses, renters and home owners; tips on preventive measures and more.
