One Week Remains To Register For Disaster Assistance Due To Damages Incurred From June/July Flooding

San Antonio, TX -- Texas residents and business owners who have not yet registered for federal disaster assistance in the aftermath of the June/July flooding have only one week remaining to apply. September 30, 2002, is the last day to file applications for most disaster assistance programs, according to officials from the Division of Emergency Management, Texas Department of Public Safety (DEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Homeowners, renters, farmers, agricultural producers and business owners who sustained damage from the flooding in late June and July are encouraged to apply. Call the FEMA toll-free number at 800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY: 800-462-7585 for the hearing or speech impaired to register. The telephone numbers are operational from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday.
Applicants may qualify for assistance under several federal and state programs such as disaster housing assistance, grants to meet disaster-related needs, U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster loans, or farm loans from the Farm Service Agency.

Representatives are available from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., CST, Monday through Friday to answer questions about the assistance process or the status of applications.
