FEMA Appoints Regional NP Division Director

Seattle, WA-- Federal Emergency Management Agency Regional Director John Pennington today named Dennis Hunsinger to head the FEMA Region 10 National Preparedness Division. According to FEMA Regional Director John Pennington, the appointment brings closure to months of applications and interviews.

"Dennis has extensive and impressive experience in security, law enforcement and disaster response and recovery teams, and embodies the precise mix of experience and leadership I've been searching for to lead our NP division," said Pennington. "He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, has served as Chief of Police for 12 U.S. Air Force Bases, and more recently has served as the President's appointed Federal Coordinating Officer on sequential Stafford Act Disaster Declarations."

"I feel quite honored to be selected for this position," said Hunsinger, during the swearing-in ceremony. "With FEMA's role in Homeland Security still evolving, this is a very exciting time to be in on the ground floor of something so important to our country."

Born in San Bernardino, California, Hunsinger completed public school in Langley, Washington and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master's in Criminal Justice Administration from Chapman University in Orange, California. He also holds a doctorate in Sociology from the American University in Washington D.C., and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy's 140th session. He and his wife Jeanne live in Langely, Washington.
