New York, NY -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the New York State Office of Emergency Management have moved their operations supporting recovery efforts in the wake of the World Trade Center attack to a new location. The move is part of ongoing efforts to better serve victims of the attack as well as locate FEMA/State staff involved in the long-term rebuilding efforts closer to the World Trade Center site.

"As our focus turns to long-term recovery and rebuilding, the new location will allow us to be closer to the people still in need of assistance as well as the FEMA regional staff that can further support our efforts," said Ted Monette, FEMA's federal coordinating officer. "We will continue to be with those affected every step of the way as they move forward with the challenge of putting their lives - and the community - back together."

The field office, established at Pier 90 in the days after the September 11 attack, moved to the third floor of 141 Worth Street. The Disaster Assistance Service Center (DASC), which brings together city, state, federal and nonprofit agencies in one location to provide services to those impacted by the attack, continues operation on the first floor at the Worth Street location, at the intersection of Worth and Center Streets. In addition, the second DASC, recently opened at Pier 94, will stay open along with the City of New York's Family Assistance Center, co-located at the site.

Individuals affected by the September 11 attacks are encouraged to register with FEMA for federal and state assistance by calling (800) 462-9029 (TTY: 1-800-462-7585). The registration process is the starting point for a wide range of federal, state and voluntary disaster assistance programs and services, including temporary housing and relocation; unemployment benefits; crisis counseling; low-interest loans for businesses, renters and home owners; legal and insurance issues; mortgage and rental assistance; and more.
