Disaster Recovery Center To Close In Fayette County

CHARLESTON, W. Va. -- Federal and state officials have announced the closing of a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) placed in operation after the late July storms. The DRC located in Fayette County will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 1.
The DRC is located in the Ansted Maintenance Building, 114 Rich Creek Road in Ansted, W.Va. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. If anyone has questions or would like to check on the status of their application in person, this should be done by 6 p.m. on the closing date.
Residents who have questions after the DRC closes may call the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA’s) Helpline from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. at 1-800-621-3362 or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech- or hearing-impaired. Helpline representatives will be able to give the same information provided by officials at the recovery center.
On March 1, 2003, FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. FEMA's continuing mission within the new department is to lead the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.
