Three Remaining Disaster Recovery Centers To Close August 6

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Federal and state officials have announced the closing of the remaining three Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) placed in operation after the May storms. The DRCs are located in Logan and Mingo Counties. They will close at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 6, which is the last day to apply for disaster assistance.

The DRCs are at the following locations:

Burch High School

Delbarton, WV 25670

The hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. If anyone has questions or would like to check on the status of his or her application in person, this should be done by 7 p.m. on the closing date.

Residents who have questions after the DRCs close may call the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA’s) Helpline at 1-800-621-3362 or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech- or hearing-impaired. Helpline representatives will be able to give the same information provided by officials at the recovery center.

On March 1, 2003, FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. FEMA's continuing mission within the new department is to lead the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.
