Dededo, Guam -- Residents and businesses on Rota have just one more week to apply for disaster assistance with FEMA. The CNMI/FEMA Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) on Rota will close permanently at 6 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2003.

The closing will coincide with the February 24 application deadline for residents and business owners to apply for assistance, according to disaster officials.

The DRC, located at the following location, will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, February 22, from 9 a .m. to 1 p.m.:

FEMA program staff is available at the center to help applicants with questions about their applications until the center closes on the 24th. The center also provides information on Social Security and referral information for other assistance programs, including low-interest loan applications from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Visitors to the center can learn about cost effective ways to prevent or reduce future typhoon damage.

Residents and businesses affected by Super Typhoon Pongsona should apply for assistance before visiting the DRC. To apply they must call toll-free 1-800-621-3362 (TTY 1-800-462-7585) daily between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. before the February 24 deadline. Those who have already applied and still have questions can call the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-3362.
