Washington, DC -- Deputy Director Michael Brown of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) today announced progress in the continued search, find, and secure activities in response to the loss of the space shuttle Columbia.

"FEMA is making significant progress in our work with federal, state and local agencies responding to the loss of Columbia," Brown said. "Resources and personnel have been deployed, and we are actively working in the field to protect the public, assist the investigation, and minimize the impact on local communities."
