Dededo, Guam -- Tuesday, February 18 is the last day the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will accept disaster assistance applications from residents and business owners on Guam who sustained damage from Super Typhoon Pongsona.

"The application deadline is coming up fast," said David Fukutomi, federal coordinating officer. "We will continue to process the applications of those who already have made application to FEMA, but after February 18 we will not be accepting any new applications."

Fukutomi pointed out that if applicants were denied assistance because their losses were insured, but later found their insurance settlement did not fully cover the losses, they should call the FEMA helpline. Compensation may be available for the uninsured losses.

To make application, call the toll-free registration line at 1-800-621-3362. Telephones are available for use at the Disaster Recovery Centers. Hearing- or speech- impaired individuals may call the TTY registration number at 1-800-462-7585. If you have already applied and still have questions you can call the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-3362.

Those who have questions, need to pick up or submit their Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster loan application, or who want information on rebuilding in a safe way, should visit a Disaster Recover Center. The FEMA centers are open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

You may also meet with an SBA representative at the SBA Disaster Office located at the Micronesia Mall, first floor next to Branch. The hours for this center are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
