Lufkin, TX - Recovery officials are asking residents of Henderson, Ellis, Johnson, Hood, Parker, Navarro, Throckmorton, Stephens, Young, Stonewall, Palo Pinto, Haskell and Shackelford to report any suspected Space Shuttle Columbia material to the following toll free number: 1-866-446-6603.

The above counties are in the primary debris path. Area residents discovering what they believe may be shuttle material are cautioned not to touch or move the items. The material may be hazardous and authorized officials must document the location.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is making available numerous photographs of confirmed shuttle material located in other Texas counties. The web site for the photographs is www.nasa.gov/Columbia/COL_debris_pix.html

"We have indications, based on a recent refined data analysis, that the strong possibility exists that shuttle material may be on the ground in the above counties," said Dave Steitz of NASA.
