FEMA Helpline and Applicant Assistance Center Closed for Presidents' Day

New York, NY -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that its Helpline and New York Applicant Assistance Center will be closed on Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, in observance of Presidents' Day.
Both the Helpline and the FEMA Applicant Assistance Center, located at 141 Worth St. in lower Manhattan (the former DMV Building), will resume operations Tuesday, Feb. 18.
The registration period for individuals impacted by the World Trace Center (WTC) attack concluded Jan. 31, 2003. Those registered by the deadline can call the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-525-0321 (TTY: 1-800-462-7585) to check on the status of their applications. Regular hours for the Helpline are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. All Helpline operators have access to interpreter services, accommodating the diverse language needs of the New York metropolitan area.
Those registered by the deadline also may visit the Applicant Assistance Center. Regular hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Recovery officials also announced that as of close-of-business Friday, Feb. 14, U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) representatives will no longer be available at the Worth St. location or at the Asian American Business Development Center, located at 150 Lafayette St. The application period for SBA loans for the WTC disaster closed Jan. 31, 2003. Those business owners and other individuals already registered for SBA assistance can call the agency's customer service department at 1-800-659-2955 to check the status of their loans.
