SANTA FE, N.M. -- The Office of Cerro Grande Fire Claims has paid a total of $263,734,219 in compensation on 15,715 claims
There have been a total of 15,715 non-insurance claims received from Cerro Grande Fire claimants and 13,489 claims or 85 percent have been completed. There have been 3,488 subrogation (insurance) claims submitted to date for processing. No subrogation claims have been paid.
The Los Alamos Customer Service Center is at Mari-Mac Plaza, across the parking lot from Smiths's (formerly Furr's) grocery store.
Those who wish to file a Notice of Loss resulting from the May 2000 Cerro Grande Fire may do so by visiting the Los Alamos Service Center or by calling the toll-free teleregistration number, 1-888-748-1853. The deadline for filing a claim is August 28, 2002.
