Charleston, WV -- Residents of Cabell County recovering from recent storms now have a resource center they can visit to get help with a variety of recovery issues, according to state and federal disaster recovery officials.

The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) opens Tuesday, July 1 in Milton at the following location:

MILTON VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT
341 RT 60 EAST
MILTON, WV 25541

The center will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. until further notice.

Those who were affected by the severe storms, flooding and landslides that began on June 11 in the disaster-designated counties can use this free resource to talk face-to-face with recovery specialists.

Federal and state disaster recovery officials encourage citizens to first apply for disaster assistance by calling the toll-free application number 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week until further notice. Persons who are hearing or speech impaired can apply by calling a special TTY number: 1-800-462-7585. Multilingual operators also are available when needed.

These centers use a "one-stop" concept so those who need assistance can get information on state and federal disaster recovery programs in one location.
