Nashville, TN -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that a mobile disaster recovery center will open in Henderson County on Monday. The center, at 547 West Church Street, Lexington, will operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 23-27.
Disaster recovery specialists from FEMA, the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, and the U.S. Small Business Administration will staff the center to explain assistance programs and answer questions from area residents who suffered losses in May's tornadoes, severe storms and flooding.
Recovery officials pointed out that residents with disaster-related questions can also get information by calling the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). For people with hearing or speech impairment, the number to call is 1-800-462-7585.
Residents who suffered losses in disaster-declared counties have until July 7 to register for assistance by calling the toll-free numbers between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
