Nashville, TN -- Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that the mobile disaster recovery center serving the Chattanooga area will close down at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, the. Until its closing, the center will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., but closed on Sunday.

Recovery officials said that residents with disaster-related questions can continue to get information by calling the Helpline at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). For people with hearing or speech impairment, the number is 1-800-462-7585.

Residents in disaster-declared counties have until July 7 to register for assistance by calling those numbers between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Disaster recovery specialists from FEMA, the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA), and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) have staffed the center for nearly a month to explain assistance programs and answer questions from area residents who suffered losses in May's severe storms and flooding.
