Oklahoma City, OK -- Federal Coordinating Officer Justin DeMello of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and State Coordinating Officer Larry Culp of the Oklahoma Department of Civil Emergency Management remind those who have been affected by the severe weather in Oklahoma between May 8 and May 30, 2003 to apply as soon as possible by calling FEMA's toll-free registration number at 800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY: 800-462-7585 for the hearing or speech impaired. The lines are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

"Don't wait. The time to register for federal or state assistance is running out," said DeMello. "Even if you're not sure you qualify for assistance, call the toll-free number and register."

To date, almost $8 million in disaster assistance has been approved for more than 3,500 Oklahoma individuals, homeowners and business owners who were affected by the May severe storms and tornadoes.
