Beckley, WV -- Two West Virginia/Federal Emergency Management Agency mobile disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) will be moving to locations in Panther, Spanishburg and Montcalm next week.

Unit #1:

Departs: War Town Hall parking lot, Sunday May 19, 2002
Relocates to: Friendly Mart/Diner, next to Panther Elementary School on Route 3, McDowell County
Dates of Operation: Tuesday, May 21 through Sunday May 26
Hours of Operation: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily

Unit #2:

Departed: Covel, Friday May 17
Relocates to: Spanishburg, in front of the Spanishburg School at 19 Beckley Road
Dates of Operation: Sunday May 19 through Tuesday May 21
Hours of Operation: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily

Departs: Spanishburg
Relocates to: Montcalm, next to the Montcalm Volunteer Fire Department on Main Street, Route 19
Dates of Operation: Thursday, May 23 through Sunday May 26
Hours of Operation: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily

Officials from the West Virginia Office of Emergency Services and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have established the mobile DRCs to provide answers to questions, recovery information, and written materials about various assistance programs available to individuals and business owners. Some disaster programs include temporary housing assistance, low-interest disaster loans, and grants for serious needs and expenses.

Individuals affected by the disaster are urged to start the application process before visiting a center by calling FEMA's toll-free number at 1-800-621-3362. Hearing- and speech-impaired individuals may call TTY at 1-800-462-7585.
