Poplar Bluff, MO -- To further help individuals and businesses affected by the severe storms and tornadoes April 24-28, the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will open two Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) on Monday, May 11, 2002. They will be located in Carter and Bollinger counties.

Operating hours after Wednesday will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday until further notice.

Disaster Recovery Centers are designed to provide more detailed program information to those who have already applied for assistance under President Bush's May 6 disaster declaration for 19 Missouri counties and who may have further questions. Representatives of state, federal, and voluntary agencies will be present, including loan officers from the U.S. Small Business Administration. The disaster programs available include temporary housing, individual and family grants, disaster unemployment assistance, and other assistance programs. PLEASE NOTE: financial assistance is not directly provided from these centers.

Recovery specialists are available to take calls from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., CDT, seven days a week until further notice.
