Lenexa, KS -- Effective Saturday, May 31, the toll-free registration and Helpline number for FEMA, 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), is changing hours. The new hours of operation will be Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 pm. CDT, until further notice. Telephone lines will be closed on Sundays. The new hours also apply to the TTY number for hearing/speech impaired, 1-800-462-7585.

Those who registered for state and federal disaster assistance can select the FEMA Helpline option by calling the toll-free number. The Helpline offers callers the opportunity to get additional information about their claim, or to update their applications.

Some victims of the storms and tornadoes beginning May 4 and continuing, have moved since the disaster occurred. Applicants need to keep FEMA informed of their current addresses, so the agency can find them. Anyone who has applied for disaster aid and moved since they initially registered should call FEMA's toll-free number or visit a Disaster Recovery Center to update their information.

Counties included in the federal disaster declaration include: Anderson, Cherokee, Crawford, Douglas, Haskell, Labette, Leavenworth, Meade, Miami, Neosho, Osage, Seward, Woodson, and Wyandotte.
